As a nearly graduate at the time, I was rather worried about job prospects. Trying to get away from dissertation work to be creative, I drafted up these festive characters. I got them printed as postcards and sent them out to prospective creative studios. I even got a job interview from it!
I sent these cards out to a bunch of local companies and I couldn’t believe my inbox when I got a response! The designer even pinned this to her board. I was over the moon.
“I know that you mentioned that you were currently crying into your dissertation (I know the feeling well), but I was wondering if you could maybe dry those tears for an hour or so and pop in for an interview?! ”
This was the first I realised a bit of initiative can pay off! The interview didn’t work out but the agency really appreciated the effort and I learnt a great lesson from it.
